Rename MP3 files from their tags
Turn download debris into names you can read. Pick a pattern, check the before and after for every file, then export.
Drop files to clean up their namesPick files from your device
No uploads. No account. Your audio stays on your device.
How to use it
Add your files
Drop songs or a whole album folder onto the page, or choose them from your device. Existing tags are read straight away.
Pick a pattern
Open Filenames and choose 01 - Title, Artist - Title or 01 - Artist - Title. Track numbers can be zero-padded so files sort correctly.
Check the preview
Every file is listed with its current name and its new one, so nothing is renamed blind.
Export
Download a ZIP, save straight into a folder, or share the files from your phone. Exports are new files; your originals are never modified.
What it does
- Named from the tags
- New names are built from each track's title, artist and track number, with characters that Windows, macOS or phones reject taken out.
- And the other way round
- If the filename is right and the tags are empty, Tags from filenames reads names like Artist - Title into the tags. You see the result before applying it.
- Junk is flagged
- The health scan spots website names, bitrate text, video labels, random IDs and underscore-for-space names left behind by downloads.
Common questions
Does it rename the files on my computer?
No. Your original files keep their names. The cleanly named versions are new copies created when you export.
What happens when a track has no title tag?
It keeps its original filename. VaultedAudio doesn't invent a name from a guess; add a title first and the pattern applies.
Can I put tracks into album folders?
Yes. Exports can be organized as one folder per album, named after the artist and album.
